You don’t have to perform therapy correctly here.
WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH ME
People come to therapy with all kinds of questions. Sometimes it’s clear what’s wrong—something happened, a relationship is struggling, anxiety is taking over. Other times, you just know something isn’t working and you’re not entirely sure why. You don’t have to understand the problem before we start.
I’m less interested in deciding whether a thought, feeling, or behavior is “normal” and more interested in getting curious about what’s happening and why it makes sense. The ways we cope, connect, protect ourselves, and get stuck usually developed for a reason. Understanding those patterns gives us somewhere useful to start.
Therapy with me is collaborative and active. I’ll ask questions, offer observations, make connections, and sometimes challenge you. We’ll also pay attention to the larger context of your life—your relationships, identities, body, brain, history, culture, and environment. My work is LGBTQ+ affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, disability-aware, and sex-positive.
And therapy with me is a real conversation. We might talk about something painful and complicated. We might also talk about the book you’re reading, the show you can’t stop thinking about, or something absurd that happened this week. Humor has a place here. So do awkwardness and swearing. We can start wherever you are.
TRAINING & CREDENTIALS
A little of the official stuff.
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Washington State (LF61616898), with a Master of Arts in Couple and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle.
I’m an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and hold a Neurodiversity Sexuality Professional Certification from Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. My work draws from Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in staffing with large tech companies in the Seattle area. Eventually, I realized I was much more interested in people than I was in staffing.
I live in Chico, California, where outside the therapy room I’m usually reading something, going to see live music, spending time outside, or watching reality TV with a level of attention that may or may not be reasonable.
I also love a puzzle. I do Wordle every day and usually have a crossword or jigsaw puzzle in progress. I love LEGO in an “I should probably be more responsible with my money” way. My video game repertoire is limited, but I am confident in my Mario Kart and Pac-Man abilities.
I share my life with Dottie, my dog, and Carla, my cat. They keep me company, make me laugh, and have very different ideas about personal boundaries.
I like serious conversations. I also like a lot of unserious things.
